WFU Lobby Day in Madison
Mark your calendars!
This is the perfect opportunity to talk with your state elected officials about the issues that affect rural communities and small/medium farmers.

National Farmers Union Convention – Oklahoma City, OK
Take this opportunity to learn from policy makers and legislators about current issues. There is plenty of time for networking with fellow FU members too.

Regenerative Biochar: Demonstration, Workshop, and Movie
Where: Seven Acre Dairy, 6858 Paoli Road, Paoli
The event is free and open to all but reservations are required and seating is limited. Please RSVP to Penny
South Central, Dane County, Kenosha/Jefferson/ Racine & Walworth WFU chapters are joining together to offer an educational event about Regenerative BioChar. The DNR’s Brian Zweifel and NRCS’s Kristin Foehringer will be on hand to talk about what BioChar is and how you can make BioChar rich carbon for small scale farm or garden soil. The Ring of Fire BioChar making demonstration will be on the banks of the Sugar River alongside the Seven Acre Dairy at 1:30 pm followed by Q&A, talk, snacks and 3:30-5:00 pm movie in the Seven Acre Dairy Hotel. Earth Conscious Film’s “The Need to Grow” movie showcases BioChar inventor, urban intensive small scale gardening, soil solutions and the fight for non-GMO foods. The award-winning movie is a family-friendly documentary.

Summer Camp
SCWFU Summer Day Camp is open to all (membership not required) for up to 25 kids ages 7-12. The day camp is free and includes lunch at Still Point Flower Farm, Brooklyn, WI. Programming included learning about farming, farm cooperatives, fun and games. Registration will open in April, 2025. Check back for more information and scroll own for photos from last year’s camp.

July 13; 2-5pm
Summer Picnic Auction and Potluck
Hawk’s Mill Winery, W8170 Pilz Road, Browntown
Join us for SCWFU’s annual Summer Potluck Picnic and Auction fundraiser to see friends, eat great potluck foods, and bid on a large array of auction items. From restaurant gift cards and farmstead-made items to overnight farm stays, theater tickets, farm sitters, WFU swag, artwork, and much more. Bring your favorite potluck dish and meet under the winery’s pavilion rain or shine. A complimentary wine tasting is offered along with a cash bar.
Take time out for the fun and help raise money for our chapter.

Harvest Fest Annual Policy Meeting
The Cider Farm Orchard, 7258 Kelly Rd. Mineral Point
Come share your farming and rural issues while learning what your chapter and state organizations are fighting for. Join us for a potluck and annual policy discussion. Bring your favorite dish to share, cast your vote in the SCWFU Board election, and bring a chair. A complimentary cider tasting will be offered.
